After our very interesting meeting with Rhenus, we´ve jumped back in the bus an took a 2,5 hours trip from Dubai to Abu Dhabi to visit Masdar City.
Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, has been at the forefront of the UAE’s efforts in the development, commercialization and deployment of clean technologies across utility scale plants, off-grid projects and sustainable real estate– as a link between today’s fossil fuel economy and the energy economy of the future. Since its inception in 2006, Masdar has established itself as a global leader of clean energy research, technology and commercialization.
Having a first look at the facility we´ve met xxx by accident. He offered a tour which we decided to take (best decision to make as we´ve learned a lot). Progress by Masdar is only at 5% but already it is impressive. The whole concept of renewable energy, materials, concepts of living and just the lifestyle brings something special with it. Siemens is located in Masdar with an own zero energy building.
Students enjoy their organic lunch and a hungry cat joins the group while walking through the facilities.
Some buildings look like an armadillo where others are made of sand. But one thing they have in common: All from the aspect of clean and renewable energy. On their own test track – we´ve enjoyed a ride in their autonomous cars and checked some literature in Masdar´s climatic library.
We finished off our stay in Masdar with a nice lunch, a freshly brewed coffee and some impressive memories.
