Our 5th visit wihin two and a half days, we´ve had with Rhenus Logistics.
The Rhenus Group is a global logistics service company with a turnover of € 4.6 billion. Rhenus has business locatons at more than 500 locations worldwide and employs 26,000 people. Complex supply chains and innovative value-added services are managed in four different business areas.
Hakan (Managing Director) and Ranjit (Sales Manager) took some time us and introduced the company, strategy and goals to the group.
In Dubai, Rhenus opened their office in 2012. Located at the new airport of Dubai DWC – Rhenus is offering several services, such as Airfreight, Seafreight, Roadfreight, Warehousing and Customs.
For the upcoming EXPO 2020, Rhenus wants to be prepared although the impact is not yet noticeable. Too many details are unclear, such as: which company will be the main logistics provider for the EXPO 2020 in Dubai.
The current political crisis between Qatar and UAE has a severe impact on trading. So currently all trades are direct from all over the to Qatar and unlike as in the past sometimes via e.g. Dubai.
Ranjit who is from India gave us some intercultural information to Dubai which we haven’t got yet. So was 20 years ago the currency still Indian Rupie and Old Dubai looks similar to Bombay in India. The trading on Dubai Creek is still the same it was like 70 years ago – Just the cargo is different today :-).
